Dear Let's Take A Walk participants,
The Organising Committee of Let's Take A Walk 2010 has crafted a letter for you to inform your friends, relatives and colleagues about your participation in Let's Take A Walk. We hope that you could help spread the word and rally your friends to pledge donations for this meaningful walk. Please note that you can only solicit for donations from your personal friends, relatives and colleagues and not any members of the public as Let's Take A Walk 2010 does not have the Public Donation licence.
Please feel free to modify the draft letter to suit your needs as seen below:-
Dear friends and colleagues,
I've done something out of the ordinary this year.
I'm taking part in the Let's Take A Walk 2010 overnight endurance walkathon from 18 to 19 December 2010.
I've signed up for the 100km ExtremeWalk/50km PowerWalk, which means that I will be starting my walk from early Saturday morning on 18 December and will walk round the clock till the next day, Sunday. The walk may take up to over 33 hours and is a real test of one's stamina and perseverance. It's a meaningful walk to give myself a personal challenge, and doing it for a good cause to help others.
This year, the charity walkathon seeks to raise $80,000 for two beneficiaries, Raleigh Society and Boys' Town. The Organising Committee of Let's Take A Walk 2010 seeks to raise funds through the registration fees and pledged donations.
All walkers have donated to the cause through their registration fees. The registration fee is at S$25 for the 10km JalanWalk and S$60 for the 50km PowerWalk and the 100km ExtremeWalk. Pledged donations from our colleagues, friends and relatives will certainly help to inch us closer to the target of $80,000.
I hope that you can help to pledge some donations to support me in this meaningful walk. Any amount of donations, big and small will be greatly appreciated.
How to donate?
You can pledge any amount you like to support or pledge say, $1 for every km that my team completes. I will send you the Let's Take A Walk passport which will be given out to all 50km PowerWalk and 100k ExtremeWalk participants as evidence to show you the number of km I've clocked for this walk. The passport documents distance covered to the nearest 10km.
Donation collected can then be made to organiser via cheque. Send Cheque (Payable to Raleigh Society) to:

Here's some fast facts about this endurance walkathon, Let's Take A Walk.
What's Let's Take A Walk?
Let's Take A Walk 2010 is an overnight, round-island group walking event organised by Raleigh Society to raise funds for a good cause. Raleigh Society is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development of youth through adventure-based activities. Let's Take A Walk was first conceptualised and executed in 1997 as an overnight, round island endurance walk in which 36 members of Raleigh Society ushered in Year 1998 by walking a distance of 130km in 36 hours and successfully raised $36,000 for Spastics Children's Association of Singapore. In 2004, 2006 and 2008 and 2009, four more walks were organised and the event raised over S$200,000 for various beneficiaries including Dover Park Hospice, Singapore After Care Association, Sunshine Welfare Action Mission (Swami) Home, Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) and Boys' Town.
