1. When is Let's Take A Walk 2009?.
8. Who can participate the Let's Take A Walk?
Anyone and everyone! The event is open to anyone who feels he or she is up to the challenge.
We do however, required parental consent for participants below 21 years of age as of 01 December 2009.
The consent form may be downloaded and send in with the payment cheque.
In addition, for 10km Jalan Walk, participants below 12 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the
walk.
9. Do I have to be fit to participate in any of the walks?
"Let's Take A Walk?is not a competitive event and walking is a relatively low impact sport compared to
running or jogging. Nevertheless, walking 50km and 100km continuously is a physical and mental
challenge to anyone and does need a certain level of fitness.
If you have any doubts about your health and fitness, please consult your doctor or health specialists before
signing up for any of the walks.
10. When and where does each category start and end?
The actual start/end point, reporting and start time of the event are not confirmed at this juncture. Details
will be updated via email at a later date. Alternatively, you can check the website for updates closer to the
date of the event.
11. Is there a baggage storage area at the start of the walk for us to keep our bags?
No baggage storage area will be provided. As such, participants are strongly advised to bring minimal
belongings which they would have to carry themselves for ease of walking or utilize their support teams.
12. Can I bring my child along in a pram?
The use of prams is strongly discouraged due to safety reasons.

13. Can I bring my pets along?
In consideration of the well-being and safety of other walkers, participants are not allowed to bring their
pets along the walking routes.
14. Can I rollerblade or cycle during the walk instead?
Let's Take A Walk is strictly a walking event. Participants are required to walk by foot the entire route. To
ensure the safety of all the participants, rollerblading and cycling are prohibited.
15. Will I get any 'goodies', t-shirts, vouchers, freebies etc, along with my participation?
As this is a fund raising event, inclusion of 'goodies?will eat into the fund raised. From experience, having
free goodies also lead to wastage on many occasions. While we will strive to get sponsors, this cannot be
guaranteed. We can however, promise a fun, memorable and unique experience for all walkers!
16. Will food & meals be provided for participants in the long walk?
There will be no food & meals provided by the organizer. Participants are strongly encouraged to organize
their own support for this matter. Alternatively, there are numerous convenience stores (e.g. 7-11, Cheers),
coffee shops, eateries along the route which you can purchase food and water from.
17. Can we stop and rest for meals, drinks during the 50km & 100km walk?
Yes, of course! You can stop and rest to have your favorite prata, nasi-lemak, chicken rice, kopi, teh-
tarik¡..at any time as long as you complete your walk within 33 hours for 100km and within 15 hours for
50km. However, do inform us, if your team decides to take an extended break, so that we do not send out
a search party. Also, do note that the event ends on 1800hr on 20 December 2009, so don"t take FOREVER!

18. Can we sleep during the long walks?
We discourage sleep-walking as you will be a hazard to your team mates and members of the public.
Seriously, some teams do take nap and some do not. It"s really up to you! The personal challenge is yours
and as a participant, you are free to strategize your route and sleeping plans with your team members.
Remember, "Let's Take A Walk?is a non-competitive event. We are here to have fun!
Again, please inform us, if your team decides to take an extended break, so that we do not send out a search party.

19. Must I have a support team?
1. What are the modes of payment available to me?
There are two modes of payment:

Participation is only confirmed upon receipt of payment and other
supporting documents e.g. parental consent form (for participants below 21 years)
2. How can I pay for the registration fees if I do not have internet banking or cheques?

3. When is the last day of registration?
The last day of registration is 09 November 2009.
4. Will I be issued a receipt for payment made?
To help save trees, we are not issuing receipts. A confirmation email will be sent out after payments have been verified.
However, if anyone needs a receipt, kindly send in your request to registration@letstakeawalk.sg
5. 8 of us wish to participate in the long walks but the maximum number of people per team is 6. What should we do in this case?
Based on previous experience, we did not anticipate that there will be more than 6 people who wish to walk
together as a team hence the maximum number of people per team was set at 6.
In this case, you can register yourself as 2 separate teams (calling yourselves 'XXXX' team 1 and "XXXX"
team 2) during online registration but the 8 of you can still walk together during the actual event.
6. I am registering for 2 teams; can I pay for the 2 teams using the same cheque?
Yes, you can. In this case, the Registration IDs and team names must be stated clearly at the back of the
cheque so that we are able to trace the payment to your teams.
7. My team mates wish to pay the registration fees separately. Is this possible?
We strongly encourage each team to make payment as a whole.
However, if it’s unavoidable to pay separately, please indicate which team members they are paying for in each transaction.
8. Would it be possible to make some changes for our team after registration, e.g. team name or team member details?
Any changes to the team information can be made before 19 November 2009.
Please write to registration@letstakeawalk.sg to request the changes. No changes will be entertained after 19 November 2009.
9. How can I make payment if it is a manual submission?
We do not accept manual registration. Please register online and following payment procedure stated above.
10. Can I make registration and payment on the day of the walk?
No. We do not accept registration or payment on day of the walk.

11. What are the participation fees?
It's $25 per person for the 10km Jalan Walk and $60 per person for the 50km Power and 100km Extreme
Walk. Sign up before 01 October 2009 to enjoy the early bird discount rate of $50 per person in the Power
and Extreme Walk.

The Routes
1. Where are we walking?
The final route is not available at this moment pending authority approval and our logistics planning.
Nevertheless, we aim to start the walk in the central part of the island before heading north, passing through
MacRitchie Reservoir, Southern Ridges, the Central Business District, heading east to ECP and Pasir Park and
then finally returning to central part. The Power Walk participants and will start a while later after the
Extreme Walk, while the Jalan Walk participants will walk on the next day.
For safety considerations and to enhance the enjoyment of walkers, we are designing the route along the
many park connectors. In situation where park connectors are not available, the participants may have to
walk on pedestrian pavements.
Details will be updated via email and website at a later date.
2. Would there be any water stations throughout the routes?
The organizer will strive to get a sponsor for water. However, participants are advised to make their own
arrangements (ie their support teams) for their personal water consumption throughout the walks should the
organizers be unable to get sponsor for water. There are convenience stores (e.g. 7-11, Cheers), coffee
shops, eateries along the route which you can purchase food and water from.
3. Will the routes of Let's Take A Walk be closed to traffic?
The routes have been planned such that it causes minimal disturbance to the public. As such, the routes
would not be closed to traffic.
4. Is there transportation before and after the event?
Participants would have to make their own transportation arrangements before and after the event as no
special transportation arrangements would be made.
Training
1. Will there be any training sessions before the actual Let's Take A Walk?
Yes, in order to get our participants ready for the walks, 5 training walks have been scheduled prior to the
actual Walk and these sessions are free-of-charge. Training is not compulsory, but we would strongly
encourage participants for the 100km Extreme Walk and 50km Power Walk to take part in these training
sessions.
Training clinics have also been planned, where past walkers, physiotherapists, nutritionist will give you tips
in your preparation. Look out for these on our website!

2. Will we be sufficiently prepared by attending all the training walks and clinics?
The training walks and clinics are held to assist in your preparation and complement your own training
schedules and plans. They are not meant to replace your own preparation. All participants and teams are
encouraged to conduct their own training and preparation so as to have an enjoyable experience during the
event.
3. Are there any prizes?
Being a non-competitive and charity event, there will be no prizes or lucky draws. Your valiant effort will
however be rewarded with a certificate of participation.
